Convert M4A to MP3
Turn M4A audio, such as iPhone voice memos, into MP3 files that play everywhere: your files stay on your device, nothing is uploaded, and it is free with no account.
How it works
- Choose an M4A file or drop it on this page. WAV files and MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM videos work too.
- Pick the quality: 128, 192 or 320 kbps. The sound is decoded and encoded as MP3 in this browser tab.
- Download the MP3. Your original file is not changed.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside this browser tab, so your files never leave your device and no server sees them. Closing the tab clears them from memory.
Will the MP3 sound the same?
Very close. M4A files usually hold AAC sound, which is decoded and encoded again as MP3, and each encoding drops a little detail; at 192 or 320 kbps the difference is hard to hear. Apple Lossless (ALAC) M4A files cannot be converted here; the page says so when you add one.
What are the limits, and which browsers work?
One file up to 2 GB and 4 hours long. Only the first sound track is used, and sound with more than two channels is mixed down to stereo. WAV files work in any current browser. Other sound is decoded with the browser's own codecs (WebCodecs): Chrome and Edge, Firefox 130 or newer on a computer, and Safari 26 or newer. If your browser cannot decode a file, the page says so as soon as you add it.
