Make an image background transparent
A manual tool, not an automatic one: click the background color, draw around what to keep, or brush. Best for logos, product photos on plain backgrounds, signatures and screenshots. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, or drop it on this page. A photo the camera saved sideways is shown upright.
- Click the background to remove its color, draw around what to keep, or brush areas away and back. Undo takes back one step at a time.
- Download a PNG with a transparent background, or with the background filled with white or a color you choose. Your original is not changed.
Questions
Does it find the background by itself?
No. You show it what to remove: click a color, draw around what to keep, or brush. A plain background, as on most logos, product photos, signatures and screenshots, usually goes in one or two clicks; for text and signatures, turn off "Touching areas only" so the color inside letters goes too. Hair, fur and busy backgrounds need the brush, zoomed in, and some patience.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside this browser tab, so your image never leaves your device and no server sees it. Location and camera details stored in the image are left out of the PNG.
What are the limits?
One image at a time, up to 80 MB and 250 million pixels. Images up to 16 million pixels and 16,384 pixels wide or high are edited at full size; larger ones are opened smaller, and the result says so. Animated PNG and WebP files are not supported, because only their first frame would be kept.
