Change a cell value
- Open the workbook and choose a sheet.
- Select the cell, choose Edit cell and enter the new value or formula.
- Check the totals, then save with Windows Pro.
Check formula results
When you change a value, XLSX formulas that depend on it recalculate if UFO supports their functions. A formula it cannot evaluate is marked, so you know to recalculate it in Excel. ODS shows the results saved in the file.
Rows, columns and sorting
Sort sheet saves a new row order; inserting and deleting rows and columns also work on XLSX. A sheet whose features would be lost is refused. Sorting or filtering the view alone does not change the file. ODS has no row or column editing.
- Windows spreadsheet limits: XLSX and ODS support.
Validation and charts
XLSX data validation is enforced as you edit. Charts can be shown, inserted or deleted, and a chart’s data range or type changed.
Legacy XLS, CSV and TSV files
Legacy XLS opens read-only. CSV and TSV cells edit and save free. Any complete grid exports as CSV free; a values-only XLSX copy, without formulas or formatting, needs Pro.
- Table format limits: XLS, CSV and TSV.
Common questions
Will Excel formulas recalculate in UFO for Windows?
Yes, for formulas whose functions UFO supports; they recalculate when a value they depend on changes. Others, and ODS workbooks, need a full spreadsheet app.
Does a values-only XLSX copy keep the original formulas?
No. It holds the values only, without formulas or formatting. The original workbook is unchanged.
